CLASS A (TRACTOR TRAILER)

To practice driving for a Class A (Tractor Trailer) Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), you’ll first need to obtain a Commercial Drivers Instruction Permit (CDIP). You cannot practice driving a rig with just a regular driver’s license. UTTS offers a PERMIT CLASS, once every 4 weeks from 8am to 5pm. Please see the permit tab/page for future dates of this class. This class is included into the price of the course.

If eligible, you’ll need to pass a CDL A Permit test to obtain a CDL A Permit. This test does not involve driving. It’s a written exam, it is a lot like the one you passed for your regular driver’s license. The difference is, the questions are multiple choice and only address Commercial Driving topics.

Our dedicated instructors have the experience and the knowledge to teach the skills necessary to enter the rapidly growing industry of trucking.

The School and instructors are licensed by the Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure Office of Private Occupational School Education. As well as the Registrar of Motor Vehicles. Studies have shown that hands on training is the strongest learning tool available. We keep our students motivated by getting them into the trucks the first day. We not only teach them how to handle the equipment, we also help them to gain the skills necessary to enter the rapidly growing industry.

In order to provide the best training possible for our students, United Tractor Trailer School moved after 23 years from Chicopee, Ma to Holyoke, Ma at the Holyoke Mall in 2018. This move has created a better learning experience for our students. We have more room for our yard training and a modern and spacious classroom creating a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment.
