CDL Truck Driver Training

You’re an independent person with career goals that take you across the States. You like the open road, and at the touch of a button and turn of a wheel, you enjoy controlling big pieces of machinery. Truck driving is a great career — the pay is good, and the job market is open for qualified, certified drivers. C.D.L. Training Services & Consulting, Inc. at Muskegon Community College is proud to offer a high-quality training school to help make you the best on the road. As a student you will learn all of the important skills and rules for becoming a Certified Commercial Truck Driver with a Class ‘A’ license.

We offer Basic and Advanced CDL Training. The Basic Training is a 4 week (160 hour) class where you will study & prepare for DOT regulations and log books; training to obtain CDL permit and thorough instruction in map reading, trip planning, yard and road vehicle handling.

The Advanced CDL Training is a 5 week (184 hour) class where you will study all of the Basic CDL training, in addition to Compliance Safety: CSA 2010, Defensive Driving, Fire Safety, and Hazardous material compliance & handling.

The MCC Health and Wellness Center is home to an onsite major national health system primary care clinic (Trinity/Mercy), as well as an onsite regional University teaching allied health collaboration (GVSU)

The MCC Sturrus Technology Center in downtown Muskegon houses the Lakeshore Fab Lab, West Michigan’s first and only member of the MIT global Fab Lab network

MCC has earned the designation of an Achieving the Dream Leader College and is a member of the University of Texas–Austin Center for Community College Student Engagement.

The state-of-the-art Carr-Fles Planetarium on the MCC campus is West Michigan’s only free planetarium.

MCC trains Northwest Michigan’s respiratory therapists by delivering real-time and interactive television didactic classes to students in Traverse City at Munson Medical Center. The students take the same courses as the Muskegon-based students, complete their clinical rotations at Munson, and receive their diplomas from MCC.

MCC offers 17 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports – the most of any Michigan community college.

MCC’s University Park Golf Course is the only community college-owned golf course in the state.

A 15-acre sylvan setting situated adjacent to the MCC main building, the Kasey Hartz Nature Area is an outdoor learning laboratory of trails, streams, fauna and flora protected for the enjoyment and education of students of all ages.
