Professional Truck Driving / CDL 

The Professional Truck Driving course trainings are offered in partnership with a third-party vendor R&B Vocational Training. To qualify for a CDL, students must register in both Professional Truck Driving I and Professional Truck Driving II.

Which course should I register for?

CDLT 9050 Professional Truck Driving I/ CDLT 9055 Professional Truck Driving II.

Students must register for both CDL I and II (200 hours) Prepares student for mastery of the Commercial Drivers License written examination. CDL II is a continuation of CDL I and provides general truck driving skills with hands-on component, and instruction coordinated with the Department of Transportation.

Professional Truck Driving / CDL I and II course training information:

•Classes meet from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6:30 pm for approximately 4 weeks* for Professional Truck Driving I and II and 3 weeks* for Professional Truck Driver – Driving Only class.

•200 hours of training to earn CDL license for Professional Truck Driving I and II / 160 hours for Professional Truck Driver - Driving Only course

•Interested students must be able to read and speak English

•Must have a valid Class C license and an acceptable driving record

•Tuition includes CDL licensing and instructional materials

•Median earnings in the DFW area are $21.19/hour, $44,080 annually

1. How is the course set up?

CDLT 9050 Professional Truck Driving I/ CDLT 9055 Professional Truck Driving II.

The 200 hour Professional Truck Driving / CDL courses are divided up in 2 parts, CDL Part I and Part II for a total of 4 weeks of classes. The first week of classes will be in classroom followed by hands on driving instruction at the truck yard.

CDLT 9065 Professional Truck Driver - Driving Only.

This 160 hour course is for students who have a currently valid Class A CDL permit and need hands on general truck driving instruction with hands-on skill development and instruction coordinated with the Department of Transportation. Driver training will be at the truck yard.

2. What is the tuition?

CDLT 9050 Professional Truck Driving I/ CDLT 9055 Professional Truck Driving II.

Course fee $4,600 (Part I $2300 + Part II $2300)

CDLT 9065 Professional Truck Driver - Driving Only.

Course fee $3600

3. What location will the classes be?

Classroom sessions are held at Collin College Courtyard Center.

Driving sessions are held at 8186 Myrick Lane Princeton, TX 75407.

The tuition includes permits, physical and licensing.

4. Who qualifies for the program?

The professional truck driving course is an open enrollment course and students do not need preapproval to register. You must have a valid driver’s license and must be 18 years or older.

5. Will there be job placement after I complete the program?

We do not provide a job placement after completion of the program but we do have a career center to assist in job search and resume writing for your convenience.
