Professional Driving Academy

We are widely recognized in the trucking industry. Our 4-week class includes a DOT Physical, Drug Screen, MVR, CDL permit /CDL licensing and 160 hours of training.

In a short amount of time, you can receive a credential that will lead to a high demand, professional career that pays well and provides benefits.

Located at the Texarkana College training site at TexAmericas Center in New Boston, Texas, our program will prepare you to take Department of Transportation exams, including the general knowledge, Class A and B, Combination Vehicle, and Air Brakes exams after only four weeks of training.

Demand for professional drivers is rising. Economic Modeling Specialists International projects that specialized freight trucking jobs will increase by 19.3 percent in Texas and 15.7 percent nationwide by 2020. The Texas Workforce Commission estimates that in 2020, more than 3,300 workers will be needed to operate buses, delivery vehicles, heavy equipment, tractor-trailers and other light truck or specialty vehicles. Currently, average earnings for professional drivers statewide are $45,332, and average earnings nationwide are just over $47,000.

About Texarkana College

Service AreaTexarkana College’s service area is designated by the state of Texas and includes all of Bowie County, a portion of Cass County, and a small portion of Red River County.

Texarkana College’s beautiful main campus is located in the northeast border of Texarkana, Texas, at the junction of Robison Road and Tucker Street, which is approximately one mile south of Interstate 30 in Bowie County, Texas. Texarkana College sits on a 90-acre campus and includes a two-acre nature reserve.

The twin cities of Texarkana, Arkansas-Texas are located halfway between the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and Little Rock, Arkansas. They are part of a Metropolitan Statistical Area of 129,000. The two cities are widely known for manufacturing, transportation, railroad, lumber, and dairy industries. The area is a sportsman’s paradise and offers fine hunting and fishing opportunities.

Texarkana College @ TexAmericas Center was established in 2011 to provide training and education courses for those working at Red River Army Depot and at the TexAmericas Center, as well as to provide easier access to learning in the western part of Texarkana College’s service area. The training site consists of two large multipurpose classrooms and approximately 17,000 square feet of workshop/lab space for workforce training. Academic Credit, Continuing Education CEU courses, and workforce and industry-specific courses are offered.

Texarkana College currently offers dual credit classes to the following high schools in our service area: Atlanta, Avery, Bloomburg, DeKalb, Hooks, Simms, Liberty-Eylau, Linden-Kildare, Maud, McLeod, New Boston, Pleasant Grove, Queen City, Redwater and Texas High.
