Where in the World is Buc-ees near me

How Did Bucee’s Start and what is Buc-ee’s known for?

Ever since our inception in 1982, Buc-ee’s has been committed to providing a clean, friendly, and in stock experience for their customers. Regardless of where you may find them, if the store is big or small, near or far, the mission remains the same.

Buc-ee’s is a chain of country stores and gas stations with locations in Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee. Additional locations are currently under development in Alabama, Colorado, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee. Plans for an additional location in North Carolina were shelved in early 2021. The company is owned by Arch “Beaver” Aplin III and Don Wasek, and has its headquarters in Lake Jackson, Texas.

Founder Arch “Beaver” Aplin opened his first store as partners in Clute, Texas in 1982 (it is still open). Aplin formed the name Buc-ee’s by combining his childhood nickname; the name of his Labrador Retriever, Buck; as well as the appeal of Ipana toothpaste’s animated mascot, Bucky the beaver. Aplin was born in Southeast Texas, with his father originating from, and grandparents residing in, Harrisonburg, Louisiana.

Buc-ee’s expanded and opened its first travel center in Luling, Texas, in 2001. Buc-ee’s are large stores with fuel pumps that range from 80 to 120 fueling positions for gas and diesel (some stores include Ethanol Free and DEF) and a large selection of fresh BBQ, jerky pastries, fresh sandwiches, tacos, Dippin’ Dots, fudge and other items.

In 2012, Buc-ee’s opened its largest travel center in New Braunfels, Texas, on Interstate 35. The New Braunfels location is the largest convenience store in the world at 68,000 square feet. The store features 120 fueling positions, 1,000 parking spots, 64 ice freezers, 83 toilets, 31 cash registers, four Icee machines, and 80 fountain dispensers. It also offers tubing and water gear for enjoying the nearby Guadalupe River. The New Braunfels, Texas store was named the 2012 “Best Restroom in America” by Cintas.[1]

After significant expansion in the Greater Houston area and Central Texas, the first Buc-ee’s in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex opened in Terrell, Texas, on June 22, 2015, on Interstate 20.

The second Buc-ee’s in the Metroplex opened on May 23, 2016. The store is located in far northern Fort Worth, across the street from Texas Motor Speedway. The third DFW location opened in Denton, Texas, on October 29, 2018.

Buc-ee’s broke ground on another North Texas location in Melissa, Texas, on February 5, 2018. The store is located off New Davis Road and U.S. Highway 75. The store opened April 29, 2019.

Buc-ees Expansion outside Texas

On April 12, 2017, Buc-ee’s announced that it would open its first convenience store/gas station outside of Texas in Daytona Beach, Florida, located on the north side of LPGA Boulevard, just east of Interstate 95. Construction began in the summer 2018. However, delays in the project pushed the construction date to 2021. Since the announcement of the Daytona Beach location, Buc-ee’s also announced a new location to be built near St. Augustine, Florida. The St. Augustine location opened first on February 23, 2021, and the Daytona location opened on March 22, 2021.

In January 2018, Buc-ee’s broke ground on what became its first location outside of Texas, in Baldwin County, Alabama.

And in June 2019, Buc-ee’s broke ground on a second Alabama location, to be located along Interstate 20 in Leeds, not far from Barber Motorsports Park.

Buc-ee’s broke ground on its first store in Georgia in Warner Robins near the interchange of Interstate 75 and Russell Parkway on November 18, 2019. The Warner Robins location opened on November 18, 2020, exactly one year to the date of groundbreaking, and brought 200 jobs to the area. Buc-ee’s opened a store at the World Golf Village in Northeast Florida in February 2021, bringing about 250 jobs to the area. Buc-ee’s opened its second Georgia store in Calhoun at exit 310 on Interstate 75 and SR-53 (Union Grove Road) approximately halfway between Atlanta and Chattanooga, Tennessee in August 2021, filling another 175 jobs.

In July 2020, Buc-ee’s announced plans to build its first store in Kentucky. The store is located in Richmond on Interstate 75, and opened to the public on April 19, 2022. The store is the farthest north of the chain to date.

In February 2021, Buc-ee’s abandoned a planned expansion into North Carolina.

In June 2021, Buc-ee’s announced plans to break ground on June 15 for a new travel center located at 2045 Genesis Road off Interstate 40 in Crossville, Tennessee. This would mark the first Buc-ee’s location in the state of Tennessee. The location, Buc-ee’s Crossville, opened on June 27, 2022.

In January 2022, they announced that a new location will open in Springfield, Missouri, in 2023 off Interstate 44.

On May 16, 2022, the first Buc-ee’s in South Carolina opened. It is located at the intersection of Interstate 95 and State Route 327 in Florence.

Buc-ee’s Announced for further expansion

Locations that have been announced include two in Alabama planned for 2023 in Athens and Auburn along with Sevierville, Tennessee, Smiths Grove, Kentucky, and Springfield, Missouri, followed by 2024 and 2025 expected locations in Johnstown, Colorado, and one in Harrison County, Mississippi.

Buc-ee’s is known for the CLEANEST RESTOOMS in America.

If you’ve been to Buc-ee’s, you may already know that this friendly neighbor along the highways has the cleanest restrooms in America. In 2012, Cintas ran a nationwide restroom contest and made it official!

Buc-ee’s New Braunfels wins award for cleanest restrooms in U.S.

America now knows what South Texas travelers already knew — Buc-ee’s, South Texas’ friendly neighbor along the Highway has the cleanest restrooms in the country.

Any Texan who has traveled on Interstate 35 north or Interstate 10 east of San Antonio knows that Buc-ee’s is the place to seek roadside relief. Cintas, a corporate supplier to the service industry, made it official, naming the Buc-ee’s location here the winner of a nationwide restroom contest.

With 83 toilets and a cleaning crew that works around the clock, this isn’t just hype.

“You can build it out of gold,” founder Arch “Beaver” Aplin told locals gathered for the award ceremony, “but if you don’t clean it, at the end of the day, you end up with dirty gold.”

The super-size convenience store chain already was a favorite. Its Facebook page has more than 463,635 “likes,” as of this writing and it has been featured on national travel and news television broadcasts.

This store, built on one of the busiest stretches of one of the state’s busiest highways, is the chain’s high-visibility flagship, afloat on a sea of popularity. The 68,000-square-foot-store. Rated as the world’s largest convenience store at the time, its 60 fuel pumps and 1,000 parking spaces cover 18 acres on the east side of New Braunfels. The Lake Jackson-based company operates 26 stores along the Texas Gulf Coast and in Central Texas.

Gary Gonzaba, Cintas’ market development official, presented a metal plaque to Aplin in front of a large bronze statue of Buc-ee, the company symbol that greets visitors.

“Whenever I go here,” he told Aplin, “there’s always someone — seemingly right behind me — cleaning up.”

“It’s about the masses,” said Cintas’ Sabrina Zimring, who conducted the nationwide survey. “We look for the public restroom facilities that serve the customer best.”

Clean restrooms, Zimring said, represent comfort to travelers. While they’re away from home and sometimes in strange surroundings while en route, a clean restroom provides peace of mind.

“Not only do they have a great atmosphere,” wrote one Houstonian, “the restroom facilities are amazing. They are spacious, uber clean and there are plenty for everyone. I have even changed clothes there without worrying about yuckiness.”

Aplin was pleased by the award, which normally goes to posh resorts or high-end facilities.

The store’s bathrooms have nice accoutrements, such as spacious closets instead of tiny stalls and art on the inside walls, as well as state-of-the-art, motion-activated sinks, toilets and hand-dryers.

Those details, however, don’t guarantee success. The secret, Aplin said, is elbow grease and hard work.

“People are so used to being let down when they stop at a restroom,” he said. “It’s so simple. It’s a nice, well-lit, clean facility.”

What are your store hours?

All Buc-ee’s are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

How can I become a vendor for Buc-ee’s, or have my merchandise sold at your stores?

Buc-ee’s is always looking for unique products or items we can offer our customers. Please see guidelines for becoming a vendor on our New Vendor page

Does Buc-ee’s offer franchise opportunities?

Buc-ee’s does not offer franchises at this time. As you may know, we don’t take shortcuts with regard to the quality of our facilities, products, or staff. Franchises and publicly traded companies must constantly focus on the money, and the side effect can be reduced standards in exchange for increased profits. Our intention is to maintain our independence as a private company so we can continue to focus on the customers instead of the bottom line.

How do I purchase Buc-ee’s items on the internet?

There are various third-party resellers of Buc-ee’s products, but they are not affiliated with, authorized, sponsored, or endorsed by Buc-ee’s in any way. Examples of such services are texassnax.com or amazon.com. However, Buc-ee’s does not have its own online store.

Does Buc-ee’s have Ethanol-free Gas or DEF at the pump?

Find locations with Ethanol-Free Gas or DEF at the Pump: FIND BUC-EE’S FUEL

Can you tell me if you have this item in stock?

We do not currently have a good way to determine if an item is in stock at a particular site.

What are Buc-ee’s car wash hours?

Car washes are open daily 7am to 8pm, weather permitting.

When is Buc-ee’s kitchen open? What time does Buc-ee’s start serving breakfast? What time does lunch start? Can I buy Buc-ee’s fudge and jerky all day long?

Fresh hot food is available made to order 24 hours a day. At our travel centers, breakfast starts at 4:00 AM and ends at 11:00 AM. At our travel centers, made to order lunch items are available starting at 11:00 AM. We also have fresh homemade grab and go items available 24 hours a day. Our jerky, bakery, fudge, and Dippin Dots counters are always open!

How can I return an item?

Please return the unused item to the store from which it was purchased and ask to speak to one of the managers.

Why is there a hold on my debit or credit card?

Because gas station operators do not know a how much you will be spending, we have to authorize the pump for some amount – typically from $75 to more than $200 depending if the card is Debit, Consumer Credit or Commercial Credit. If we authorize too little then an SUV or truck can’t fill their tanks. If too much, then some card holders would not have the funds and therefore could not make the purchase. For example, if the pump is authorized for $100.00 and $40.00 of gas is pumped then there will be a $40.00 charge and a $100.00 hold. Holds can last for up to 72 hours. This is the decision of the Debit / Credit Card Issuer.

Why are Buc-ee’s store phone numbers unlisted?

This is not a decision we made lightly. We previously had phones in the stores which were answered by the cashiers. When cashiers were on the phone instead of waiting on customers, this made the customers angry, so we thought it would be better to direct comments to the website.

Is Buc-ee’s publicly traded?

Buc-ee’s is privately owned. We have no plans at this time of becoming publicly traded.

Can I get a copy of the video of something that happened at one of the Buc-ee’s stores?

Yes, if a crime or extraordinary circumstance exists, you may choose to report it to the police department and if they take your case, they can request the video.

Does Buc-ee’s have gift cards?

Not at this time.

Can I park my vehicle in Buc-ee’s parking lot and leave?

No. In our efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for all of our customers, we cannot accommodate vehicles for an extended amount of time in our lots.

Can I park my vehicle in a Buc-ee’s parking lot and rest there?

No. In our efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for all of our customers, we cannot accommodate vehicles for an extended amount of time in our lots.

Does Buc-ee’s sell propane?

We do NOT sell propane.

Does Buc-ee’s have deer corn? How much does deer corn cost?

Corn cost and retails may change daily therefore we do not quote retail prices because there is a time delay between the time quoted and the time a customer may arrive at a store. Buc-ee’s actively monitors corn prices in each market so we can remain the low price leader. Deer corn is available 365 days a year in 50LB bags at the following locations:
