course description

This course is designed to introduce and enhance your knowledge for a new career as a professional driver in the road transportation industry. You will learn to make sound decisions by applying the basic driving principles used by safe, professional truck drivers every day. The classroom portion of the course prepares the student to test for a Class A CDL permit and optional license endorsements including Hazmat, Tanker and Double/Triple.

This program will also cover a wide range of driver’s duties and responsibilities including: government regulations, hours of service for drivers, vehicle operating systems, and trip planning that professional drivers utilize on the job daily. The practical driving portion of the course is designed to enhance the student’s driving skills by developing and improving the techniques necessary for safe driving.

Upon successful completion of this course you will possess the knowledge to operate a tractor-trailer and be prepared for CDL license testing and employment in the road transportation industry. Graduates will be eligible to test for their CDL in a provided training truck with an authorized state examiner.

Your practical training will take place on recent model year Freightliner tractors, equipped with 10-speed manual transmissions, tilt and telescopic steering wheels, air ride seats, air conditioned cab and cruise control. Cabs have been designed to provide a mobile classroom with individual seats for each student. 48 foot trailers complete the training units, accurately representing the working A Class combination tractor trailers you see on the road every day.
